The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) needed a specialist in politics and communications to create a resource for their members – over 100 community radio broadcasters across Australia.
CBAA knew that the relationships community radio stations have with their local politicians were extremely important, but many stations were unsure how to go about creating and developing these relationships.
As a result, CBAA engaged SansIcarus in 2015 to design and deliver a Political Engagement Toolkit, to act as a key resource for community radio stations in their interactions with members of parliament.
Working with of a variety of CBAA’s members, we created a suite of materials, centring on a booklet that drilled down into what CBAA’s members wanted and needed to know, providing them with the tools they need to engage with politicians.
Accompanied by factsheets, promotional flyers, magazine articles and web content, the political engagement toolkit was launched at the CBAA’s 2015 annual conference, immediately receiving a positive response from community radio stations.
In 2016 CBAA brought SansIcarus back to present a series of webinars to CBAA members to help reinforce the toolkit’s content and answer any direct questions their members had.
Mark’s expertise in NGO consultation, communications, understanding and explaining the political system, content and design resulted in a resource not only that the CBAA was very happy with, but also had strong positive feedback from target users.
Mark was easy to work with, organised, worked under budget and delivered on time. He was respectful to the diverse views of stakeholders at all times. The CBAA would use Mark again and would definitely recommend his services to other organisations.
